Bath's walking tours take in the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Pulteney Bridge, the Circus and the Royal Crescent. The most reviewed is a walk with a Blue Badge guide, and others focus on the Georgian city, Jane Austen's Bath, Bridgerton locations or the darker side of local history. Some combine a walk with Roman Baths entry, and there is an evening ghost tour and a headphone tour set to music.

Most group walks last an hour and a half to two hours. At the time of checking, they were listed from about £16 to £29, and the walk that includes Roman Baths entry from £69. A three-hour private walk was listed from £110 and a private half day to Stonehenge from £203.

Before you book

The centre is flat around the Abbey, but the climb to the Circus and the Royal Crescent is steep, and pavements are uneven in places. If you want to go inside the Roman Baths, a walk with entry included saves booking a separate timed ticket. Weekend walks in late November and December fill up because of Christmas market visitors, so book a few days ahead.

Bath walking tours: questions

Which walking tour should I take first in Bath?

A general walk with a Blue Badge guide gives the best overview of the Roman and Georgian city. Themed walks suit a second day.

Do Bath walking tours go inside the Roman Baths?

Most stay outside, but one tour on this page includes Roman Baths entry. It was listed from £69 at the time of checking.

Is Bath hilly for walking?

The centre is fairly flat, but the walk up to the Circus and the Royal Crescent is steep. Allow extra time if you walk slowly.
